Hi, I’m Tanner—a graphic designer.

I love any well-made design, but I’m especially interested in branding, print, and animation. When I’m not working, you can find me reading a book, printmaking, or learning how to play tennis. Thanks for checking out my work below.

Gamut

Branding and biodegradable mushroom package designs for an art supply company.

︎ The Problem

1. Gamut art supplies needs a primary logo and secondary logos.
2. Many art supplies do not have sustainable packaging.

︎ The Goal

1. Design a primary logo for Gamut art supplies.
2. Design three secondary logos for the brand’s different products.
3. Design unique, sustainable packaging for the brand.

Primary Logo

The hand-drawn painterly logo resonates with the brand’s products.

Secondary Logos

There are three logos for each of Gamut’s categories of art supplies, each with a carefully chosen animal mascot. The charcoal-hued panther for drawing, the colorful parrot for painting, and the squid to represent printmaking supplies, like ink.

Packaging Research

I decided to use mushroom packaging for the design. Mushroom packaging is grown in 7 days from a mixture of mycelium and other organic materials. It’s 100% compostable and can be disposed of in your yard.

Final Project

The mostly-bare packaging lets the uniquely sustainable material shine. Each package explains what it’s made of and how it can be disposed.

Since the design doesn’t use plastic, the user can’t see the art materials without opening it. To solve this, each package shows how the materials look, as if someone drew or painted on the packaging
