Hi, I’m Tanner—a graphic designer.

I love any well-made design, but I’m especially interested in branding, print, and animation. When I’m not working, you can find me reading a book, printmaking, or learning how to play tennis. Thanks for checking out my work below.

Great Untranslated

Logo and design system for a series of never-before-translated important books.

︎ The Problem

1. Many important books aren’t translated.
2. Cover designs for translated books often downplay the author’s original language.

︎ The Goal

1. Design a translation company brand, including name and logo.
2. Design a book cover system for a series of translated books that addresses these problems.

An Example

Those who don’t realize The Elegance of the Hedgehog is a French novel won’t learn this fact from the cover.

Naming

LION, the name I selected for the proposed translation company, is based on “L10N,” the abbreviation for the “localization,” which is a more rigorous method of translation.

Logo

Three relevant symbols combined into an attractive mark.

Final Project

The title is displayed twice on the cover—once in the translated language and once in the original language. Between the titles is a rectangle that holds an illustration that begins to hint at mood/themes/symbols in the story.
